- Drawing Games in Chanticleer Gardens
Let's play in the garden and learn about the wonderful ways of using lines most artist use to create character and have a silly time doing it. I kid you not, you will find yourself laughing so hard you may bust a gut! Be sure to bring your journal, watercolors, water cup, paper towel, paint brush, fine tip permanent marker and a bandana or scarf. You may want to bring a snack and beverage as there is no concession available. There are restrooms and water fountains. Please bring sunscreen and bug spray and dress comfortably. The solarium/sun room is covered so we won't have to worry about a rainy day. Admission for Chanticleer is $10 for adults; PHS members $8; Radnor Library Cardholders $5.00. The garden is open until 5:00. So we will have time after this event to extend our visit at the garden :)
- Flower Power Collage Landscape Page
Spring is upon us and that means flowers, flowers and more flowers! We will meet at Jenkins Arboretum where we will be surrounded by Azaleas and Rhododendrums galore! After an inspiring, delightful, colorful, and peaceful hike through the arboretum and by the pond (Can you tell how much I love this place???), we'll use a collage spilling technique from Diane Trout's book using writing, collaging, and gesso to create a background for creating floral and spring images on. Come with your journal, watercolors, container for water (painting), pencil, scissors, fine tip permanent markers/gel pens, floral imagery/paper and any other papers you want to share with others for collaging. I will bring the gesso. You may want to bring items you need for being outdoors such as drinking water, bug repellant, hat, sun screen, comfy shoes etc. It is free to get into Jenkins! There are water fountains, bathrooms and a gift shop. Trail is paved with majority of it being flat.
- Peaceful places & tranquil music page to usher in spring!
Who's ready for some color and warmth? Let's titillate our senses by combining music with images! We will create a colorful page using sheet music and/or lyrics from an uplifiting song as background and combine it with images of relaxing places! Feel free to bring images of places you have been, would love to visit or secret hideaways as well as your favorite song/sheet music/lyrics!:)

- Re-do Stamp, Stencil, Resist, Rubbing Page for the New Year for a new you!

Please bring copies of your favorite quotes to share with the group. These could be old fortune cookie messages, poems, sheets of music etc.! Bring a black & white photo copy of yourself to decorate for the page too. We want to surround you with positive thoughts for 2019!!

In celebration of the season, I'd like us to create a page highlighting all we are greatful for using photos of places and faces we dearly love. Bring a copy of a photo and we can embelish it with mixed media--watercolor, stamps, stencils, stickers, markers, gel pens--You name it! We will share our cornucopia of art materials! Think Snoopy and Charlie Brown and the gang with popcorn, jelly beans and toast--yet a total artist's feast! And of course you know the Buttery will have great food!:)
- Paper making at Chanticleer Botanical Gardens
Have you ever wanted to make some cool paper for your journal? We will be experimenting (I emphasize experimenting...lol...) making Sumingashi Japanese (marbelized paper) and Orizomegami ("tie-dye"-ish paper). Chanticleer Gardens has a beautiful Solarium with large tables we can use as well as an outdoor drying table for the paper (It's such a perfect spot to dye paper!). You are welcome to come before the event or stay after to enjoy the beautiful vistas of Chanticleer as it comes to its peak just before fall. There is a $10 entrance admission fee to get into the garden. Some libraries in the area have a free pass you can obtain. So please check to see if you can obtain a pass from your local library. The garden is open 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. There are no cafes or garbage receptacles within the garden. So please bring water and a small bag to remove your garbage. There are two restrooms on the premise. Please dress accordingly for art-making "messiness" and for weather "hopefully-not-so-mugginess" (no AC). Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. You may want to bring a cookie sheet or other container-ish item to transport your paper home so that it can finish drying and a larger garbage bag for transport (So paints etc. don't get on your car etc.). The solarium is enclosed. So we can make the papers even it rains. If you anticipate that you cannot come, please remove your name on the list so that others may come.
- Make decorative papers for your journal at Jenkins Arboretum
Let's capture Jenkins Arboretum at its finest with Azaleas and Rhododendrons in full bloom while making decorative papers to use for our journals. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy as we'll be making Japanese marbleized paper, creating a tie dye paper and working with ink and paper. You may want to bring a drinking water bottle, snack, hand wipes, bug spray and sunscreen. There are bathrooms inside the garden gift shop. When we get through making art, we can go for a stroll in the park down to the Lilly pond. Added perk: Jenkins Arboretum is free to the public and paths are paved!:). If weather is inclement/raining, we will be meeting at the Buttery in Malvern.
