Welcome!

Want to learn to dance to some of your favourite songs? Want to try a partner dance and meet some new people? This is the meetup for you. Zouk is a great dance that has come out of Brazil and works perfectly with modern music. This group is a great way to discover more about the Zouk scene in Manchester, make some friends and start learning something new!

How many people attend?

The meetup group here can be a little quiet but we have lots of regulars that come along even thought they don't use the meetup. We'll often have 10-20 people in the main class and 20-30 for the social. So don't worry if it looks a little quiet!

Directions

Studio Bee is tucked away in a little alley off Stevenson Square and it is at the top of 3 flights of stairs. It can be quite hard to find! We included a photo album (https://www.meetup.com/Manchester-Zouk-Social-Dancing/photos/27929882/) with a few pictures to guide you on your way!

You want to head to the south-east corner of the square and walk along the street that runs behind the Police Museum. There is a small alley way on the left. Step into the alley and enter the door immediately on your right and head to the top of the stairs!

What to wear?

There isn't a strict dress code so it is mostly whatever you're comfortable in. The studio can be quite cold at the start but then you can get quite hot with the dancing so... come with layers :)

There are lots of t-shirts & jeans with some dressed a little smarter. Some wear exercise/gym clothing or more dance specific clothing.

It is also best to wear flats rather than heels when starting out. Balance is quite important and every little helps!
