The Waterfall of Zaran-Kut
Your characters have grown up in the area near Hillcrest, a fairly large but remote city in the Southern Foothills of Castria. You've spent your youth trouncing around the forests, following caravans from the north with their exotic and expensive goods, and learning how to handle yourself in the wilds. Your dwarven friend Rumin Keck recently spoke of a story he'd heard about a hidden waterfall deep in the caverns underneath the abandoned Dwarven fortress of Zaran-Kut. He claimed that if you could find the waterfall you would also find the abandoned treasure of an ancient Dwarven family. You dismissed his story as fanciful posturing, but he swore to find it himself if you wouldn't join him. It's been nearly 3 weeks now, and none of you have seen Rumin around... you and your closest friends decide to investigate the Dwarven fortress in the hopes of finding your friend and perhaps, if you're lucky, the treasure he spoke of.
Castria: a Rules-light Tabletop d20 RPG (PLAYTEST)
After years of playing numerous editions of D&D as well as occasional one-offs in various other tabletop RPG systems, I have built an extremely rules-light system that encourages creativity, imagination, and uses open-ended rules to guide, but not enforce, character choices. Modeled on basic D&D 3.5/5E mechanics, but with way less crunch and way fewer technicalities, Castria is the name of both the system and the setting. I'm excited to bring this game into live playtesting. Since it's brand new, I will bring pre-generated characters for all players (don't worry, there will be a wide selection!). If I am doing it right, the rules should take less than 20 minutes to teach.
