Hometown: Global Villager

Organizer since:

How did you find us at Manhattan Tarot?

One night in 2005, my name came up on Google. One of my Ferol Humphrey Method graduates was talking about Tarot, and she mentioned me as her instructor. I clicked thru to the Dallas Plano Tarot Meetup, and immediately joined for some Tarot fun after my workday. We renamed the group Living Tarot Meetup in fall 2005, and I now manage it~ we also gave birth to Living Tarot Facebook, which was very active for about 5 years, from[masked]. Now we are alive internationally as Manhattan Tarot Meetup, and here I am! I offer workshops and training all over the world, to brand new students of Tarot, and long-time students, teachers, and well-known trainers who work internationally as I do.

What motivates you about Tarot currently?

I enjoy providing personal Tarot consultations, and teaching Ferol Humphrey Method Intuitive Development as my full-time profession. I have been teaching Ferol Humphrey Method in Dallas, NC, NY, and the Pacific NW, as well as by phone and video, since 2002. I enjoy watching the lights come on in the eyes of newcomers as they realize what Tarot can do, and who they can be with Tarot. Also, I like watching Tarot create bridges for people who would like associations and experiences beyond the surface level. I build community, locally and globally. And, Ferol Humphrey Method Intuitive Development really works. If you want to schedule a personal Tarot session in my NYC office or by phone at[masked], email [masked]. Visit my website at

Do you have certain decks you prefer?

I own a Gold Leaf Edition, real gold, of Marco Benedetti's I Tarocchi Homage Visconti-Sforza, a real stunner. I have a large collection of historically important decks, and most often use Robert M. Place's Alchemical Tarot 4th Edition, and Art Edition. Universal Waite is my usual reading deck, but I alternate with Alchemical, Symbolon, Benedetti, and Robert Place's Burning Serpent Oracle. I am interested in and own a bunch of Sybillas, Kippers, and about 35 Lenormand decks. I like Dondorf best after R Place's Burning Serpent.

When and why are you most likely to pull out your cards?

First thing in the morning before I re-enter beta brainwaves. I make no attempt to see anything in the cards, gain insights, or reason it out. It is just the cards + my subconscious, before I have returned to man the Bridge. Why get in the way?

How did you get into Tarot?

I bought a deck because I have always been interested in the frontiers of consciousness, and esoteric systems. I wanted more SOMETHING. I figured, what the heck, why not try Tarot~ it is an intuitive and archetypal symbol system, and new to me.

Hi, I'm Ferol Humphrey! I bought my first Rider Deck in 1994, and I was actually a little uneasy about it. I find that really amusing now! Tarot is one of the best parts of my life. I practice regularly and teach professionally. Very rewarding.

What Ferol H. is saying about this Meetup Group

It is a pleasure to test reading theories, examine world views, and make up new creative approaches to living, on the spot, with such intelligent, humorous, adventuresome people. Really! The artwork of Tarot, oracle, and playing cards seems to bring out the best in even our newest people. Everyone gets a little bit nervous, and then we cross our edge and find a bit of a thrill. It is scary to cross our edge! It is a lot of fun to do it with others who are also willing to dare. We wind up exhilarated and full of laughter.
