This group is for women (adults only) who are either currently enjoying the Keto WOE (Way of Eating) or want to learn more about it. We will meetup about once a month at a member's house and bring a Keto dish to share. We will discuss the many health benefits of Keto, as it is not only a great way to lose and maintain weight, but can also improve your overall health, reduce the use of medications, lower blood pressure, etc. We are here to support each other, learn from each other and make new friends who like to cook the Keto way.
This group is not intended for people who want to sell products or promote their business. We are about cooking and sharing REAL FOOD and not relying on processed, over-marketed "miracle cures" for losing weight. By definition, the Keto WOE is No Gluten, No Grains, No Sugar, Low Carb. We welcome anyone to the group, regardless of how you eat, but whatever meal you bring to our meets ups should follow the general Keto guidelines. If you are unsure what that means, refer to this article:
A profile picture of you (and ONLY you, not with your family or your spouse or of your dog) is required to join. We are opening up our homes to people we do not know. We feel it’s only fair to know who to expect at the door. Here is an article on how to manage your profile pictures. It is possible to have different profile pictures for each group that you are in:
You do not have to be from Mansfield or Arlington to join this group, but that is where all of our meetups will be located. Most of us live in Mansfield.
You do not have know anything about being Ketogenic to join this group. We welcome everyone who wants to learn. We understand that eating Keto is not for everyone, so if it turns out to not be your thing, that's fine.
We try to produce as a group, a nice meal for everyone to share - appetizers, salads, main dishes, and desserts. Please review the posted foods that are already being brought to the meetup so we do not have a lot of the same type of foods. And yes, some of us enjoy a glass of wine with our meals. (We are flexible and not strictly 100% Keto) So we are BYOB on beverages for these meetups, whether alcoholic or otherwise.
It’s VERY IMPORTANT, as a member of our group, that you have your EMAIL UPDATES and PUSH NOTIFICATIONS turned on in SETTINGS both on your desktop computer and on your phone app (which you have hopefully downloaded). It is necessary that we can communicate, that you are reachable and that you check back frequently in the days before an event. Changes sometimes occur. If you are on a waitlist, you might get moved up if someone changes their rsvp.
I, Wren, have been eating Keto since 2014, so I have a lot of experience and recipes to share. I love to help people and I am available for consultation on how to do Keto: what to read, what podcasts to listen to, what YouTube videos to watch, what to eat, etc. at no charge. Ask me anything. I've been to the Keto Conference in Austin the past 2 years and have listened to over 500 hours of Keto podcasts and read about 50 books on the subject.
Teri is the co-creator of this group and she has been eating Paleo / Low Carb / Keto for several years as well. She went strictly gluten free 3 years ago due to Hashimoto's/Low thyroid and spends a great deal of time reading about health and nutrition to manage that condition.
