Marple Newtown Community Band (MNCB) is a concert band with adult musicians of all ages and abilities. We play a variety of concert band music, including marches, show tunes, and more classical-type pieces, to name a few. We currently rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm at Congregation Beth Israel of Media in Media, PA. Our schedule mainly follows the school year calendar, but we also perform a few times during the summer. We have two main stage concerts each year in December and May, as well as a handful of other performances scattered throughout the year, many of which take place locally in Delaware County. Please contact us for more information.
Call time is 9:00 am. We will decorate the float and warm up while waiting for the parade to begin at 10:00 am. We will be playing from music books that will be distributed that morning. The parade goes down West Chester PIke and ends at the firehouse in Broomall (West Chester Pike and Malin Road). The exact time we will finish depends on where we are in the parade lineup. We often are asked to play the national anthem at the firehouse at the end of the parade, so please plan to stay for a few minutes after we finish the parade route. If you park your car at St. Albans Circle, the truck will pull the float back to that area following the parade to give us a ride back to our cars. Dress is our blue band shirts, white band hats (if you have one), and black pants/shorts. Please bring your instrument, a stand or lyre, suncreen, a copy of the national anthem (for after the parade), and anything else that you think you will need for the duration of the parade.
