What we're about

The Mars Society is the world's largest and most influential space advocacy organization dedicated to the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars. Established by Dr. Robert Zubrin and others in 1998, the group works to educate the public, the media and government on the benefits of exploring Mars and creating a permanent human presence on the Red Planet.

Our Seattle chapter has been going strong since 1998, founded by Chris Vancil, David Stuart, and James Burk. Chris is on the Mars Society Steering Committee, David is a long-time NSS member and space activist, and James has been the Webmaster & IT Director of the Mars Society since 2011.

Mars Society Seattle - Chapter Business Meetup

WeWork Lincoln Square

The Mars Society is looking for help with its major initiatives for 2019 including the Mars Desert Research Station and MarsVR virtual reality application, as well as our website/social media updates and other technical & public outreach projects, some of which have an educational & STEM focus. James Burk will present on the current state of these projects and explore volunteer opportunities. No previous experience necessary and all skill levels are welcome. We need help with many different things! You can also just come to listen and network with other like-minded people. This is a great small group with opportunties to work on projects that can advance your career skills, and to get volunteer experience with an established non-profit organization with a great mission -- getting public support to send people to Mars!
