Photographers of all levels are invited to join us. If you are interested in improving your night photography skills this meetup group is for you. Most workshops and meetups you will have three professional photographers to guide and instruct you.

Night Shoot on Assateague Island

Assateague Island

$125.00

Assateague Island is an excellent location for shooting Milky Way. This event is at the National Seashore in Berlin Maryland (not the State Park, and not Chincoteague in Virginia). This is a two part event; training and camera setup for shooting Milky Way prior to shooting once the Milky Way is visible for those who have never captured it or shot with me prior, $125 for training and shooting. Second part is shooting the Milky Way at locations in the National Park, $50. Those that need training and help setting up their camera, we will meet at 7:00p to go over settings, focusing, etc. Cost for training/camera setup is $125.00. During training your Milky Way lens will be focused and taped for Milky Way shooting. Everyone else, coming for the shoot only, meet us prior to 9:30p when the Dark Night starts. I will provide our shoot location to those coming to shoot only. We will shoot as many locations as possible. The organized shoot ends at 1:30a, when the Milky Way Core sets. The training for Milky Way capture is geared towards first timers with an interest in Nightscaping or those that need refresher training. You will need a DSLR (preferably full frame), a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f2.8 or wider, a cable shutter release, and a sturdy tripod. Information on camera settings for shooting the Milky Way will be provided. The key for success is getting proper single frame capture in camera combined with accurate focus for pinpoint sharp stars. Waterproof boots are recommended for some areas. Dress for the weather. Please be familiar with your camera and be able to change settings in the dark. Be prepared for insects and humidity. This time of year, please note that the Milky Way will be mostly vertical. The cost is $125 for the training/shooting session or $50 for shoot only for those that have shot with me before and don't need training. The event is limited to 4 for training/shooting and 3 for shooting only, 7 total. Please contact me and let me know which category you are in and what assistance you will need. ************************************************************* 1. Please pay first (as family or friend): https://www.PayPal.me/CarolWard4 $125 for training or $50 for shoot only. 2. and then RSVP yes. ************************************************************* You aren't registered until you've paid. No refunds unless the event is cancelled by the organizer. If you've paid and can't make it, you can find someone to take your place and work out the payment with them. If it rains or is too cloudy to shoot, the event will be rescheduled. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event your money will be refunded. Decision on cancellation/reschedule will be made as early as possible. This is an outdoor event and is weather dependent. The weather in this area is known to change quickly. Additionally this event is subject to change based on the Corona virus impact on that date such as the park closing and Maryland essential travel only. Please note the following: - The workshop will be run by Carol Ward. - Please bring a flashlight or headlamp with a "red light" or "dim" setting. You'll need it to see the controls on your camera. - And, as always, be prepared for insects, heat and humidity. - In case of inclement weather a decision will be made and notification will be sent 2 hours in advance. - Date subject to change again due to the Corona virus impact and weather. - "This business is one of a number of private businesses authorized within Assateague Island National Seashore by written agreement to provide appropriate services to Seashore visitors.
