• THE COLD TURKEY RUN
Happy Thanksgiving! It's cold this Friday.. ir's raining and cool Saturday ... BUT NOT SUNDAY! High 56 Degrees and Sunny. An opportunity for us to get one of those rare off-season rydes when we have the pre-Christmas gift of a temperate day. Proposing MSW's first Annual Cold Turkey Run, which will be an 'after-stuffing' Thanksgiving weekend ryde. It'll be a short ryde ... only a couple of hours. For 2018, considering those who couldn't make the Halloween Ryde, and for those who made it and might've wondered, "Where am I?" .... with a few change-ups (to make it more fun), this route follows the new-format Halloween route BUT during daylight hours. :-) We can finish with some refreshments at the Double T.

  • Haunted Maryland Night Ryde!
Note: Your RSVP acknowledges that you have read and agree with the MSW Liability Waiver and Release (https://www.meetup.com/MarylandSpyderWeb/pages/22522132/MSW_Waiver_and_Release/) PLEASE NOTE MEETUP TIME BROUGHT FORWARD TO 6:30. We'll have Ryders' meeting at around 6:45 with PBO around 7pm. MSW's annual gathering of truly eeky, ookey, creepy cast of characters, often in costume, from M-S-DOUBLE-BOO! This event continues as one of MSW's only night rydes (Last year was FEAR-nominal)! Stay tuned for more details. We will ply back-road haunts ... the Spyders all lit up ... cool ... misty ... hopefully moonlit, not too fast .... slow enough to hear the creatures of the night in the trees and hedge rows we pass, through dark roads of a nearby institution, where zombies have been known to roam; headlights refelcting off grave stones; home fires in the air; the smell of old barns and fall decay ... light and shadows moving in our peripheral vision ... "Whoaah ... What was that!" Wear something costum-esque ... celebrate the change of seasons with us in this visceral evening adventure ... and of course, watch for deer. Clear visors and eye protection only, please. This will also be sort of a rolling pajama party (if you have pajama-style PPE, that's fine), and will conclude at a night-time breakfast and coffee nook to recount our ryde experience, talk about whatever bumped us in the night and warm up before your ryde home. The ryde ends with a late-nite stop at the Double T Diner on 40 West, We guarantee you'll wake up Sunday morning "smyling" about the night before. Totally different; MSW-odd and fun!

  • FALL FOLIAGE RUN
Note: Your RSVP acknowledges that you have read and agree with the MSW Liability Waiver and Release (https://www.meetup.com/MarylandSpyderWeb/pages/22522132/MSW_Waiver_and_Release/) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A pleasant 117 mile run to try to catch some Fall Colors! This is another classic out of MSW archives, taking in many of Central Maryland's scenic byways. Starting from Sykesville, we will angle southwest to pick up MD 80 through Iamsville and continue on a loop out through Urbana and pretty Mountville Road, which will take us up to Burkittsville and Gathland State Park. We'll try to stop by the Correspondents' Memorial Arch for a group shot. Our sojourn will continue from Gathland we'll trek north just east of Sharpsburg and then north through Boonsboro and Keedysville up Boonsboro Mountain Rd, and cross US 40 at the 'fishhook'. This is a hairpin turn onto US 40 east, then a first-left onto Pleasant Walk Road. We then meander NE through Wolfsville, cross the Catoctins on MD 77, then descend into Thurmont for a late lunch. We will consider Thurmont a break point for those coming in from the west (if they desire), or continue to the ryde finish back in Sykesville. With the rain and the cool snap over Friday into Saturday, let's hope for some nice clear scenery! Free on three!

  • Mystery Solved - Columbus Day Weekend Ryde
***RSVP's CLOSED** Please email me directly to see if we can get additional in. This will be a ryde up through two really pretty areas ... Fairland, just south of Gettysburg, then across and cutting north by Ski Liberty into the Michaux State Forest, north and then over to a point of interest, The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, PA. Never knew it was there, but looks pretty neat for a dose of retro machines, including different classes of racing cars and motorcycles. From there, we'll wind down to a late lunch at Olivias, a neat restaurant on MD 97 SE of Gettysburg, then back down past Woodsboro and out onto Coppermine Road, past the 'haunted' graveyard at Grace Rocky Hill Church, and then continuing SE back to Sykesville. Total Miles: 166, or so. This'll be a fun ryde on one of our last warm days of the season. Come on out!

  • Let's Ryde! Sunday Ryde to BuddyLou's Antiques and Eats, Hancock, MD
RSVP's closed at 20 participants, per our brunch reservations. Please email me directly for exceptions. We are finalizing the date and some details, but we have an 'okay' weather outlook for this weekend. Picked Sunday due to weather watch, squaring away weekend obligations and sufficient advance notice. Planned ryde out to BuddyLous Eats, Drinks and Antiques in Hancock, MD, about 97 miles out and with return, totals between[masked] miles. Breaks at half-way points on each leg. We get to stretch our boundaries. BuddyLou's (http://buddylous.com/) features an interesting restaurant and an Antique-y 'emporium' style store to pick up an interesting knick-knack or two, or for larger items, they probably have facilities to ship it to you. At their web site, check out the Gallery, and submenu, 'Everything Else.' This will be a lengthy ryde (but not that lengthy) where we're trying to make some time, and will require your best ridership (interval, pace, etc.). With all that in order, should a fun day! More details and route info to follow.

  • The I-83 Hooker?
Note: Your RSVP acknowledges that you have read and agree with the MSW Liability Waiver and Release (https://www.meetup.com/MarylandSpyderWeb/pages/22522132/MSW_Waiver_and_Release/) Now ... now ... now ... No thin skins -- Fishnet stockings optional! Our event is named for the route which hooks from west to east and back again as we cross I-83 in northern MD ... Sort o' like a shepherd's staff, but that didn't sound mischievous. Bring your stamina - We'll be ryding just over 103 miles before we break bread together at Friendly Farm. There'll be a Rutter's stop near the top of the route. Friendly Farm will be the technical end of the route, but Bernie I'm sure will lead those heading back to NE Baltimore and Harford counties on a nice route, as will I back through Carroll and Howard Counties. Update -- We will be ryding through the Seven Valleys PA area. It so happens that Seven Valley's PA was the birthplace of American commercial ice cream production. Along our route as well is the "Four Springs Winery." They make a vintage called "Fat Cat." We may stop there for a jif ... leave room in your frunk, etc. :-) See ya Saturday!

  • Motosports Inc., Hanover PA Sales Booster Day
MSW takes every opportunity it can to spread the word about our Can Am Spyders, whatever model, our club and the focus here is to support sales at our dealer-sponsor, Motosports Inc., of Hanover PA. This Saturday is Motosport's sales promotional event, where we can help by representing the machine, representing MSW as the best club to ryde in, and helping out - How? Well it depends on sales activity. We are developing an approximately 10-mile gpx file to facilitate test rydes, and should the event produce customers ready to take that step, Silver- and Gold-pin ryders will be allowed the responsibility of leading or assisting with new-buyer test rydes. The event is only five hours (8am to 1pm), so we need the showroom and parking lot to be full of MSW regalia. If any of you know of a potential customer, we know Motosports will do them well. The return for your time is Motosports' support to MSW during its successive seasons. Weather forecast as of 7/30 indicates a possibility of rain, but we'll persevere. We'll also plan a late lunch and a short ryde following our 'work day.'. ~ Free on Three!

  • 105 to Keep Us Alive!
Note: Your RSVP acknowledges that you have read and agree with the MSW Liability Waiver and Release (https://www.meetup.com/MarylandSpyderWeb/pages/22522132/MSW_Waiver_and_Release/) 105 miles of good ol' ryding to keep us feeling Free on Three! This is a Twist N' Go given relative assurance of good weather this weekend, albeit a little warm. If you like being on the bike, asphalt, a lot of turns, and not worrying about where we're going, this is your traditional MSW ryde. Plus we get to hang out! We will plan a stop at Greenmount Station restaurant in Hampstead just over halfway through the route.
