  • Aloha! You've heard of the Pacific Coast trail (PCT), John Muir trail, Appalachian trail, Kalalau trail and the Continental Divide trail? This is Maui's version of such a trail. It will take 2 days to complete with one night in Haleakala's Paliku campground. A total of 31 fun-filled, amazing miles. One for the ages. You only live once.

We will start at town of Kaupo, continue up Kaupo Gap to Paliku with full camp gear. Stay the night and continue next morning on to Halemau'u trail, up the switchbacks, then down to Hosmer Grove campground using the Supply trail. And finally, continue our descent along Bridal trail to end at Waihou Spring Forest reserve in Makawao. We will cover 6 different climate zones.

More information in the following weeks and month. This is an FYI to allow yourself enough time to physically prepare. Transportation shuttles, etc will be worked out at later date.

Please RSVP only if you clearly intend to participate!! Weather permitting.

Why you mention the vehicle fee? If we're walking into and out of the park?

Watch a mandatory video at visitor's center to camp in Paliku and obtain permits. By the time we start in Kaupo, it'll be close to 10:30-11am. Alex, Doris and I have experienced this routine. The Center opens at 8am.
