Learn about this fascinating new world and make it work for you!
We are in the midst of a digital media revolution, with old media being disrupted by the new. What once was a world ruled by broadcast news, daily newspapers, weekly magazines and editorial boards, is now a world turned upside down by blogs, podcasts, independent crowd-funded voices and social media.

Mark Glaser, executive editor of PBS MediaShift, will lay out how the revolution happened, how people's attention has turned from print to online, and will give four case studies of new media that have sprung up against all odds and become powerful forces in our culture.

Glaser will give a clear explanation of how digital media has changed our world, with the rise of social media, online-sleuthing, memes and more -- and the loss of power by media moguls and traditional media. One big example he will outline is the way that the Boston bombings manhunt played out online, with people following every detail on Twitter and doing their own fact-checking on sites such as Reddit. He will lay out his case, and then include the audience in a spirited Q&A discussion.
