Re: [Hong-Kong-Vegan] Your feedback on a vegan lunchbox service in Hong Kong

Afternoon everyone,

Massive thank you's for all your feedback. I really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions and they are all very encouraging and useful. As vegan/vegetarian couple living in Hong Kong who prefers home cooked meals, I think we have something to share to the vegan/vegetarian community even if it just means showing people what we eat to inspire them on what to have for lunch. It can get monotonous sometimes eating out as a vegan/vegetarian in this city so the best way to add some variety is to probably make it yourself!

I am always interested to know what my vegan husband eats for lunch that his work arranges and delivers to him and I do get jealous all the time because he has the any restaurant in Hong Kong who is willing to deliver at his disposal. However, if you are like me and the rest of the Hong Kong office working population who brave the mayhem that is the lunch hour where we are limited by time, space and access to these amazing vegan friendly places, lunch breaks can be disappointing.

I think the best bet is to start small. Perhaps run as a sort of a private kitchen type where subscription is limited. And the delivery places will be specific and limited to certain areas in Central, Admiralty and Wan Chai. Like many of you said, this will probably not be an everyday lunch meal for most you but will be a great option to have in week. I'm thinking of arranging a delivery system based on location where certain areas will be catered to only for that day.

I am taking note of those who volunteered to collaborate or join me in this venture. I'm asking for your patience if my response will be a bit delayed as I would like to personally send a separate email to each one of you.

Cheers.
Jennifer

Hi All,

Vegan Lunchbox in Central: It’s definitely a constructive idea.  All your messages should be sent to Jennifer directly for further discussion within the interest group instead of everyone on the mailing list.  Jennifer, please take the lead on this topic within your group and let us know if there is any outcome afterall.

Cheers

Hi Jennifer,

I think it's a wonderful idea!

It's actually something I have been wishing to create in Central or a few years. I looked at creating a vegan/raw menu for an existing catering company but the logistics was a bit complicated and the market wasn't big enough a few years back.

I have many detox clients who would love to have a delivery service available.

It's quite lucky that I have a flexible work schedule and I enjoy going out for lunch (when I don't prepare my own). And I use MANA like my own dining room....

Would love to collaborate or help in whatever way I can.

Cheers,

Cherisse

Hello members of Meat Free Hong Kong

I would like to test the idea and ask for your kind feedback and opinion about a vegan lunchbox service delivered to your office. It works similar to a food program that people subscribe to and they get a meal delivered to their work place everyday. Customers will pre-order the day before (with a cut off time) choosing between 2-3 vegan meals. People can pay in daily, weekly or monthly terms.

My husband is vegan and I've been vegetarian for almost a year. He is quite lucky that his company provides catered restaurant lunches that accomodate his vegan diet. If this was not the case, I can imagine the difficulty finding vegan meals where you don't end up going to the same places or having to compete with the central lunch hour crowd in popular places such as Life Cafe in Soho, VeggieSF in Stanley Street etc.

I welcome partners who are interested to collaborate.

Thanks in advance for your feedback. Much appreciated!

Cheers.

Jennifer
