Lingyen Mountain Temple Tour & Lunch

The temple may remind you of some of our former temple visits, but actually, this is our first visit to Lingyen Mountain Temple. Thanks to Lily for arranging this interesting experience. The temple is located along a stretch of No. 5 Road between Blundell and Steveston Highway in an area known as the “Road to Heaven”.

Schedule: Temple tour at 11am followed by lunch, by donation. We will not be collecting funds, this is a by donation event. Usual donation is $10 and up.

Lunch is very simple at this temple. All items will be vegan, but no menu is given in advance.

All guests must bring their own bowl / plate, cup, and utensils. Imagine you are a monk or nun, graciously accepting what is offered. Do not expect lunch to be huge and varied.

Carpooling is encouraged. Please indicate if you are driving and from what location so that those seeking rides can contact you. If you're looking for a ride and you see someone offering, please click on their name and then click on "send email" on their profile, so that emails to the entire group are kept at a minimum.

Words fail me. This meet-up was exemplary on all levels. The tour of the temple was outstanding, the food beyond expectation - so plentiful and delicious - and the graciousness of the volunteers/guides was tremendous. Thank you for organizing this humbling and enlightening experience. I learned so much.

    Hi,

Can anyone give me a ride from M/town? As Dusan has changed his mind about going therefore, I can't take a ride from him. Thank you!

I don't mean to cause friction, I'm only noting something that I'm experiencing as a new member approaching my first event. If it was a 'Bring Your Own Bottle' event, I would bring a bottle of whatever I felt like having or sharing with others. So here we're encouraged to bring our own bowl. What's the difference? I think it's DELIGHTFUL to be part of an event instead of just to show up and be served like we're kings and queens. To each their own, live and let live, peace to all.

Hi Linda - sorry for the confusion in my previous reply. The ride I was offering was to the Temple tour/lunch on Nov. 17. I am also going to the Sri Lankan dinner tonight with a friend whom I am meeting at the Scott Road skytrain. If you'd like to ride with us I can pick you up at 96th and Scott Road around 5:45? My cell is[masked] if this works for you. Marianne

Please keep in mind that this will be a very simple lunch, neither likely as large nor as varied as with previous temple events we have hosted. We have to go with the attitude of monks, graciously accepting what is offered.
