How would it feel to be truly free? And what is it that gets in our way of the bliss of mental freedom? By mistakenly believing that our happiness is something to be obtained “outside”—through people, circumstances, and things in our life—we live in a constant state of desire or craving. This uncontrolled desire—or attachment—creates dissatisfaction and prevents us from finding the contentment we long for.
If, however, we develop an experiential understanding of how happiness and contentment principally arise from an inner experience of mental peace, we can begin to free ourself from the dissatisfaction that attachment brings. By developing inner peace through our practice of meditation, we can tap into an endless and reliable source of contentment that brings great flexibility and freedom to our mind—benefiting both ourself and others.
