Meditation Mamas is a meet up hoping to gather together a group of new parents (with babies in tow) who would support one another in a meditation practice in the presence of, and giving presence to, our new little ones.
It can be hard to find the time and space to meditate when looking after a little one, and yet a meditation practice could be so valuable in navigating new parenthood. Most groups aren't able to facilitate a space where parent and baby duos could meditate together, where noises, crying, feeding, changing, moving are supported and used to develop mindfulness. Meditating together could potentially be a source of strength and deepen our relationships with our babies, each other and the world.
I'm not an expert or a teacher but feel like the support of a group could really help my practice. So this group is for experienced mediators, and newbies alike, everybody is welcome. My belief is that everyone will be valuable in developing new and creative ways to meditate in the company of/with our babies. I'm hoping we can find ways to be present with ourselves, and our babies numerous needs and practice with music, movement, guided meditation as well as more traditional techniques. To find our way together in finding ways to practice and support one another.
I' be looking to find a venue with a good sized room, but the group could also be taken outdoors (perhaps in warmer weather!). So any ideas would be welcome!
All new (ish) parents welcome, mums and dads, with babies. All types of feeding welcome. Will probably need to bring yoga mats, cushions etc and perhaps some food to share.
