Raja Yoga Meditation - Part 1 at Sheffield Hallam University
Learn how to guide your mind into a natural state of calm with a spiritual approach to meditation. Explore the foundation of Raja Yoga meditation in this one day introductory course. The day will include presentations, discussion, guided meditations and time to reflect. On completion, further sessions can be made by arrangement. Booking is essential - as space is limited please let us know if you have to cancel your place. Unfortunately we are not able to provide any refreshments. Please bring your own vegetarian sandwiches and water/tea/coffee etc. On Sundays the nearest cafe that is open is at the Millennium Gallery. There may not be enough time to go to the cafe at lunch time. All our activities are free of charge. Voluntary contributions are gratefully accepted. A selection of books and CDs will be available for purchase. Cash or cheque payments only. It is easy to get lost in the university. We suggest you bring these instructions with you on the day. To find the venue: The Main Entrance is on Hallam Square (a round paved area in front of the door) and is next to the Careers Centre and across the road from the Millennium Gallery. By foot from the train station walk up to the top of Howard Street. A large poem is on the side of the building on your right as you walk up the hill. Hallam Square and the Main Entrance are on your right at the top of Howard Street. Parking: Science Park A and Science Park B are directly behind the Student Union Hubbs, 'kettles' buildings, accessible via Furnival Street, Arundel Lane one way system. Follow signs to SHU Science Park. These car parks charge £1 on Sundays. The parking meter will issue an all day ticket. Once you have left your car exit the Science Park on foot onto Arundel Street and turn right. The Main Entrance of SHU is in front of you. If the car park is full you will find that most on-street parking is £1 on Sundays - please refer to local street signs and parking meters for details. Finding Your Way Through the Building: The Main Entrance is on Level 5. Signage for our courses is usually arranged from the lift lobby. Walk past Reception on your left (not staffed on Sundays) and enter the lift lobby. Signs for our courses on the wall of the lift lobby will direct you down to Level 4. You can either take the stairs or the lift. To call the lift select Level 4 using one of the touch screen panels in the lift lobby area. On exiting the lift (or staircase) turn to your right and find access to Howard Building via a door to your right. Go through this door passing through a comfy seating area and through the double doors to the corridor beyond and follow signs to Room Howard 5424.
