What we're about

"If you're not smiling, you're not doing it correctly."

This is a group for people who want to hear dhamma talks and receive live meditation instruction in sutta-based Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) from Pali Sutta scholar Bhante Saccananda, abbot of the Brahma Vihara Meditation Center in Long Island City. This is a small, fledgling meditation center, providing a unique opportunity for personal instruction.

Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation helps meditators develop joy, happiness, equanimity, and insight. For most meditators, it is quickly effective in brightening mood, reducing stress, and improving social relationships. Meditation practice becomes an opportunity, and not exercise or a chore.

Bhante Saccananda is a Theravadan Buddhist monk, who has augmented his many years of vipassana practice with study of TWIM under Bhante Vimalaramsi in Missouri. He has been encouraged by his teacher to bring TWIM to New York. He is also a doctoral candidate completing his dissertation at New York Theological Seminary.
