What we're about

Anyone and everyone is welcome.

You don't need to bring anything except yourself.

The classes are non-denominational. Which means this isn't based in Christian, Buddhist, Hindu or any other kind of religious background. We borrow techniques and ideas from many traditions with an emphasis on getting people to experience a broad range of styles so that they can find a practice that works for them and is useful for the real world lives.

We are a friendly, welcoming group. The attendance varies from meetup to meetup, but usually about 35-55 people come along.

St Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown, NJ has been kind enough to host this Meetup since 2016 so we have been able to keep them free so far.

The hosts for each class are founders of RWM Education, Inc, a charity dedicated to improving people's lives through meditation. We offer periodic public classes in the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area at low or no cost.

More information about the charity as well as other meditation information can be found at

www.RealWorldMeditation.org.

In 2019 we are offering a beginner's class at 6:30pm on Wednesdays, and then a meditation for everyone at 7:30pm. Anyone is welcome to attend either or both classes but there will not be instruction for beginners at the 7:30pm session - we'll just get straight into it.

The 6:30pm class will last around 45 minutes. The 7:30pm usually lasts between 75 and 90 minutes.

Meditation for Beginners

St. Peter's Episcopal Church

This is intended for those with zero meditation experience. If you have any interest in checking out this meditation thing - try this. We will guide you gently into the techniques and show you that regardless of whatever you think - you CAN meditate. It's simple to learn and get started though there is always more to learn. FREE for all. • Important to know Parking can be difficult around the church, even though it is free from 8pm on - so give yourself time to find a spot. We start at 7:30pm promptly so that we can finish more or less at 9pm.

Meditation

St. Peter's Episcopal Church

Weekly Meditation. FREE. Anyone is welcome. Some experience is recommended since there will not be beginner instruction (there is beginner instruction at 6:30pm). But it doesn't matter what type you've done before - anything will do. We'll probably do around 30 to 45 minutes of meditation in two or three different sessions. There will be some discussion of some aspect of meditation and usually an opportunity for Q&A. Non-denominational - i.e. just because it's in a church doesn't mean it's Christian, nor is it Buddhist / Hindu or anything else. Yes - these practices are inspired by spiritual practices from many religious traditions but we're practicing in a secular context, albeit many who come are using it as a spiritual practice. • Important to know Parking can be difficult around the church, even though it is free from 8pm on - so give yourself time to find a spot.
