Summer is finally here, so let`s celebrate in style, with an Aare boat trip and BBQ.

Weather Forecast for Saturday: Sunny, with a maximum temperature of 30C. A prize will be offered to the first person to spot a cloud!

Boat Trip

Note that this event is only suitable for confident types with a sense of adventure and who are also competent swimmers, You are also very likely to get at least a little wet from splashes, even if you don`t jump off the boat for a swim! The river is relatively fast flowing and cool and there are several rapids and many bridges with pillars to navigate through.

River conditions: The water temperature is currently just under 20C, but should be above 20C on Saturday. The water flow is relatively strong at around 240m3/sec, which is just below the recommend safe rafting level of 250m3/sec. We will stop halfway for a break.

Start Point; Uttingen railway station car park, aim to hit the water by 11:00
End Point; Eichholz BBQ area, Bern, in the vicinity of the volleyball court around 14;00

What to bring: Swimming clothes, towel, something to change into (dry clothes) and a swim bag is recommended to keep your stuff dry! Refreshments for the trip and the BBQ afterwards. Lifejackets are optional.

Boats: If you have a boat then please bring it with you and let us know how many free seats there are. If you don`t have your own boat, please organise a space on another boat, or you can hire a boat from one of several oparators who oparate from Uttingen station (it is advised to do this in adavance).

Transport: If you are driving, let us know if you can help transport people, boats and BBQ stuff. Otherwise join the front carriage of the 10:16 S1 train from Bern to Uttingen, arriving 10:39. I will join this train at Gümlingen.
