June Meetup - Managing and Deploying Your Django Project

We have lined up three speakers for our June Meetup.  We have a couple of spots left for short (5-10 min) talks, or a single longer talk, if anyone wants to get up and say something.

  • Brenton Cleeland will talk about piprot - a really handy package that helps keep project's requirements.txt in good condition
  • Mark Hellewell will say a few words on deploying Django apps with Fabric
  • Dan Peade will give us a brief demonstration on how to get an existing Django project off MySQL and onto Postgres (and why you should do this)

We also have a door prize to giveaway!

We're hosted at Common Code's code shop on 114 Hoddle Street.  It is less than a minute away from Collingwood Station on the Hurstbridge/South Morang line is on the North-East courner of Hoddle and Gipps.

Well done guys! It was very interesting, amazing people and environment. My first MelbDjango, with the willing of more. Thanks to organizers and speakers for making this happen.

Link to the screencast from my presentation if anyone is interested: Again, apologies for the slowness and poor quality video, I'm not the most seasoned screencaster out there.

I'll try to get the instructions from the demo into the blog post soon too.

I can also slide something in on Vagrant if there's interest or time left over.
