You may remember a while ago I asked for people interested and available to assist for a trip to the Western Treatment Plant. Well, it's time to make it official.
It seems ever since this group was established that people have been wanting to have an outing at the Treatment Plant. Given the diversity and abundance of birdlife there at any time of the year, it will be the perfect place to celebrate Global Big Day 2016 ( http://ebird.org/globalbigday).
A day out to 'WTP' was never going to be like regular Meetup events, as it's more a car safari than a walkabout. I find the Caltex on the edge of Werribee a great place to meet others, get petrol go to the toilet, have a coffee etc. From here we can car pool and assign people to cars/drivers with permits. We will all have a different experience on the day, but it will be an interesting exercise to see how many species - and what great photos we can get between us. Realistically we don't want more than three people to a car, but I got a great response when I enquired originally.
I look forward to it as I always do when I visit 'the farm'. More details and updates between now and the 14th of May.
