What we're about

News update Jan /Feb 2020

Melbourne Chorus has finished yet another fun and eventful 12 months. Our wonderful director Traci Voss gave us a full year of new experiences, learning and fun, and we welcomed lots of new members into our special community.

In 2019 we brought home 2 medals from regional competition in Hobart, we performed to a packed house with the Legends of Brass for their Last Night of the Proms concert, we took part in Kew Festival with other local choirs, we sang at special events and opening ceremonies, we competed in an Eisteddfod, and had many other fun small group performances. We also had international singing coaches throughout the year to take our singing and performing skills to the next level.

Not to mention all the good times and fun along the way!

We can't wait for 2020.

What's next?

2020 is already looking like a busy year with competition in Hobart in May as well as other performances and coaching.

In February we're opening our rehearsal doors to anyone who would like to visit and find out more about us and what it's like to be a member. Why not come along and find out what's unique about us and why we're more than just a choir. Check out our events page for dates and times or email Ros at chorusinfo@melbournechorus.og.au

We would love to see you!

About Melbourne Chorus

We're an auditioned choir of 60 energetic women of all ages and backgrounds who share a love of singing and performance. We get together every Wednesday night in the music hall at Kew East Primary School to have fun and sing in 4 part harmony a cappella, barbershop style.

What sets us apart is our established organisation and our reputation for the highest level of singing and musical education. Melbourne Chorus provides an opportunity to experience weekly vocal coaching, personal growth and performance within a supportive community of like minds.

We have a wide repertoire of songs from our signature barbershop to early Gaelic, folk, 70's songs and current radio hits, and we perform across Melbourne and Australia in concerts and competitions.

How do you know we're the right group for you?

Do you love to sing? Maybe you enjoyed singing groups/musical performance in the past and you're looking for a way to bring it back into your life.

Are you looking for a way to lighten your life, have fun and be part of something bigger?

Do you want to join an award winning group where anything is possible?

Whether your voice is high or low, soft or strong there is a part for you. You don't need to read music - we provide learning materials, education and coaching.

If you're feeling inspired but maybe a little daunted here is what a new member had to say...

'Having never sung as part of a chorus before, I felt a little nervous coming to rehearsal on my own but this is such a warm and encouraging group that I immediately felt very welcome. Rehearsal is enjoyable, energetic and skill-building – I learnt heaps and really enjoyed being able to join in straight away! ' (You can read other member experiences under 'Group reviews')

If you're interested in finding out more about our style of singing a cappella email Ros from our membership team at chorusInfo@melbournechorus.org.au or message her through this site.
