What we're about

Esperanto! It's a planned language designed to be the world's second language and is in fact the easiest language to learn. Spoken in over 100 countries throughout the world Esperanto is great for travel and making new friends. Whether you want to use the free accommodation services of Pasporta Servo, get a super boost to learning another language, chat with Esperanto speakers from around the world via the internet, or simply to exercise your brain by learning an easily achievable language, Esperanto is the answer! The Melbourne Esperanto Association hosts meetups on Monday nights at Ross House, and casual beginner lessons on Sunday afternoons at the Emporium food court. We teach, learn, study, practice and speak Esperanto in an informal setting and welcome new attendees, even if you don't know any Esperanto yet! For more information visit www.melburno.org.au or come to one of our meetups!

Esperanto Basics Cafe Meetup @ Fed Square

ACMI Cafe & Bar

Join us at ACMI Cafe & Bar for an informal lesson in Esperanto, the international language! Over tea/coffee/cake we will cover the basics of Esperanto, practice our conversation and listening skills, play games and increase our vocabulary. Lessons will be tailored for absolute beginners and for continuing students to achieve faster recall of the core building blocks of Esperanto. Don't worry if you've never studied any Esperanto before; we can explain what it's all about! Beginners and the simply curious are absolutely welcome! Come and learn Esperanto with us to: • Make new friends throughout the world • Learn one language and travel to many countries • Boost your ability to learn other languages • Make use of free accommodation through Pasporta Servo • Exercise your brain with an achievable language There are usually at least four of us there, ranging up to about 15, despite how many RSVPs we get - so don't let the small numbers on meetup put you off! Also the end time is kind of flexible, so if you need to leave early that's not a problem :) If you are under 18 years of age, please bring an adult guardian. Also a quick note about the location: ACMI has two entrances, one near Flinders Street and one at the upper level in Federation Square - ACMI Cafe & Bar is beside the latter.

Esperanto - Lunda tradukado [Monday translation]

Ross House Association

On the fourth Monday of each Month we'll translate! The Melbourne Esperanto-Association has volunteered to help with the translation of the famous (and huge) story “1001 nights”. We’ve already translated two nights… there’s a lot of work left. This is a good way to improve your Esperanto as we will discuss the best way of expressing different sentences.
