MEDITATION - Rejuvenates the Body, illuminates the Mind, and helps us experience our Inner Essence or what is sometimes referred to as our True Self/Soul/Buddha-Nature/Inner Awareness.
But, there are so many positive benefits to meditation, and the intention for creating this group is to help people achieve these benefits for themselves, by creating a supportive, encouraging, and helpful community; not only for those already working their practice but also for those who are just beginning or interested in learning.
Those who have tried to meditate on their own often say it’s difficult, and in the beginning, sitting still and finding the time to meditate every day is challenging. But, the secret to sustaining a long-term practice is simpler than you think — it's GROUP MEDITATION.
Here are some reasons why:
1. OUR GROUP MEDITATION WILL PROVIDE AN ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENT.
Many find that a group setting is a more encouraging environment because when practicing alone, it’s natural for every meditator to go through a phase where they think: “am I doing this right?" Unfortunately, this doubt can kill any attempts at building a long-term daily practice. But, in a group you’ll connect with like-minded people with whom you can talk about your practice, ask questions, and pick up tips and tricks, in order to help you achieve your goals.
In addition going to a group meditation, is kind of like going to a gym with a workout partner. If we go to the gym by ourselves we may not workout for the full time we intended or as intensely as if we went with a friend or partner. Well, the same goes for mediating. If we meditate at home alone we might not sit for the full time we intended, but in a meditation group, we feel committed to sit for the full-time as we won't want to disturb or look like we are slacking in front of the others. :-)
2. OUR GROUP MEDITATION GIVES US A SPECIFIC TIME AND PLACE TO MEDITATE.
One of the biggest issues facing the meditators I work with is that they struggle to keep a specific place and time to meditate. Putting this group together defines the place and time in advance. This can be very helpful in building our practice because the distractions from our home won’t be there.
3. OUR GROUP MEDITATION WILL HELP US TO RELAX MORE QUICKLY.
When meditators come together they form “group energy”. And many meditators say that this group energy helps their minds to quickly calm down and allows their meditations to become deeper and more fulfilling.
