Septembers MelbJVM is at Peoplebank once again - thanks guys!
To get started we're aiming for a number of lightning talks on Java 7 features, a running theme we hope to continue over the coming months.
Additionally we'll have Andy Gelme present on the Akka concurrency framework, as its uses within the Play 2 web framework.
Given we've had a Play talk earlier in the year, this is a good opportunity to see what's changed, but also to appreciate how Akka is used to solve concurrency issues a web app developer has to consider. Akka also continues the running theme of the last couple of meetups regarding messaging, concurrency and scalability.
Info on getting there:
Peoplebank offices are on the corner of Flinders Lane and Queen St. The building has had some scaffolding work going on outside for the last couple of months. Doors lock at 6pm but someone from Peoplebank will be downstairs to let people in. If when you get there, no one is present, call[masked] and we'll send someone down. We also will be having a raffle, so when you get to Level 13, there will be someone to greet you, get a nametag, and also put you in the raffle draw. For those driving in, there is $10 flat rate after hours parking on Market St, between flinders lane and flinders st.
