This presentation will address a more balanced evaluation of tribalism in large organisations and how recognition and shaping of organisational tribes can actually be a serious enabler for advancing an organisation.
Geoff will use a combination of general and military case studies to describe initiatives that have worked in the past. Others will be invited to discuss their own experiences of what can be achieved by accepting subcultures and harnessing them to achieve greater team goals.
Speaker: Geoff Cooper, Centre for Army Lessons
Geoff has been conducting some research into organisational learning strategies by “eating the elephant one bite at a time”. It is common to talk about the impediments to maintaining effectiveness, managing knowledge and organisational learning that tribal behaviours have on large organisations.
