Mini SumoBot Event at Melbourne MakerSpace
Melbourne MakerSpace will host 4 meetups during the Saturday morning public access time (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM) to build, code, tweak and compete mini SumoBot robots. Josh, Gene and I have worked for months to get the cost of our kits down from a commercial $130 to a mere $26 by 3D printing and laser cutting many of our own parts. 2 different kit designs are available:
>Gear-head motor robot with laser-cut frame and 3D printed wheels for $26
>Micro-servo motor robot with 3D printed body for $25
>We have produced 10 of each of these kits for a maximum of 20 participants.
Meetup 1: October 29 Build Day: hand out the kits, make robots.
Meetup 2: November 5 Code Day: learn to code your robot.
Meetup 3: November 12 Test/Tweak your hardware and software; run trial matches
Meetup 4: November 19 Sumo Championship--fight for the prize!
When you sign up for this series of events, indicate in the comments which kit you want.
You can see all of the details on my Web site: https://microservosumo.wordpress.com/
First come, first serve on the kits (it took months for all of the parts to come in).
