PHP 7 migration at scale by Luc Pettett & Chris Langton
At Punters.com.au (http://punters.com.au/) during our peak period - the Melbourne Cup - we hit our peak of 30,000 concurrent users (in a 60 second period) and expect a volume of around 1M unique users in a couple of days. Last month we upgraded to PHP 7 and we’d love to share our journey. Performance improvements are a major reason to upgrade, but there are a few fancy surprises you wouldn’t expect a migration brings to the table.
Between the talks we will take a break for pizza and beer provided by our sponsors.
We will reconvene after dinner for a couple of short talks:
Using the += operator with arrays by Csongor Halmai
How to use Vagrant in your dev flow / featuring Beetbox / for beginners as well as team leads by Alexar Pendashteh
We head to The Turf Bar on Queen Street for networking and socialising after the talks
