The Memphis Scrabble & Board Game Group Pages

We are a laid-back group, and enjoy meeting new people, being social and playing a game or two of Scrabble or whatever other games are suggested. Here are the team rules:

Scrabble Rules!
(or….how to behave at a meeting for the Memphis Scrabble and Board Game Meetup)

All of us in the Scrabble and Board Game Meetup share a common love of playing games of some sort. At the heart of the group is a respect for others and a pleasant attitude. A weekly game is something to look forward to, both for the challenge and the company. Because of the social nature of our group, and playing games in general, it’s important to define some basic rules for attendance.
Here are the basic rules for attendance at a Scrabble and Board Game Meetup:
• Treat everyone with respect and kindness.
• Avoid offensive conversations. If you are offended by a topic, you have a right to speak up and ask for a subject change. Most members of the group are happy to talk about any number of things, and are open to changing the subject quickly.
• Do not be overly negative. This is an outlet for people to have fun and relax. A negative environment prohibits fun…and if we can’t have fun, what’s the point?
• Be kind to our servers – many restaurants welcome the chance to accommodate our groups, and do not charge a fee to block off tables. In return, we need to treat their staff with respect and kindness.

On the chance that you do not adhere to the rules of the group, you will be blocked from the Meetup calendar. With 99 members, we need to consider what’s best for the majority of players. Hope to see you soon - bring your game!
