& Fund-raising Raffle

PRIZE = $40 Gift Certificate to the Restaurant of your choice!

Dear Friends,
First of all, please don’t forget to forward this to others, especially school teachers and principals within the Shelby County, TN school system!

The Memphis Go Club is holding a Scholastic K-12 Art Competition revolving around the ancient game of Go (a.k.a., Wei qi and Baduk). The real purpose of the art competition is, quite frankly, to introduce the game of Go to K-12 students here in Shelby County, TN. This is a great game for anyone to learn, but especially kids, because studies done by Dr. William Cobb have shown that kids who play Go do better academically as a result of playing Go and demonstrate less disruptive behavior class!

Also, it requires players to use BOTH halves of the brain while playing it, as demonstrated by MRI research done at the University of China in Hefei. Additionally, it teaches: discipline, judgment, fore thought, and, if you play it like I do, a lot of humility!

All artistic entries must have a Go theme, so students will have to learn about the game of Go in order to participate. Of course, there will be cash prizes ($300 worth of cash prizes to be exact) in order to encourage students to participate and, hopefully, that’s where YOU come in!

The Memphis Go Club is holding a raffle to raise funds in order to help pay for the K-12 Go Art Competition advertising and prizes.

Tickets are just $5 each or three for $10 (obviously, a better bargain!). The winner gets a $40 gift certificate to the restaurant of his/her choice – anywhere on the planet!

This is a really good cause that I believe in and I hope will help improve the schools here in Shelby County. Please help if you can.
