Discover remote and seldom seen areas of Eagle Lake. Learn about the history of the area and the native flora and fauna as you are guided through the towering trees of the Bald Cypress swamp. Get an excellent view of a large heron and egret rookery, see primitive fish splash by your canoe, and possibly glimpse a Bald Eagle. Reservations are required as there is limited seating. Privately owned canoes and kayaks are welcome, but also must make reservations. Meet at the Visitor Center; prepare to caravan to the launch site. Bring water, snacks, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and clothes and shoes that can get wet and muddy.Trips man be cancelled due to water level or weather. Live Raptor Program
Birds of Prey are incredible creatures. This is a wonderful opportunity to view them up close and to learn how they live and hunt. These programs take place at the Nature Center and are presented by a knowledgeable Naturalist.
and BUTTERFLIES, BUTTERFLIES, BUTTERFLIES - Last weekend the TN Natrualists participated in the annual butterfly count and the butterflies are out in force! Expect to see several varieties and literally hundreds and hundreds of butterflies.
Then we can catch lunch at the SHELBY FOREST GENERAL STORE - great greasy burgers, fries and lots of other stuff...
