SHELBY FARMS SUNDAY STROLLS - nature hike

SHELBY FARMS SUNDAY STROLLS - Nature Hike - departs the Visitor Center at 2pm.  This is a new regularly scheduled hike (third Sunday of the month) but the time will change and the daylength changes - so recheck the time.

These nature hikes will be different each month lasting 1.5 to 2 hours and we can do more if the group desires.  They will be on trails, through open fields and sometimes we may even venture off trail.  They are slow going as we explore nature and see what we can find.

Bring some water and your cameras.  Appropriate hiking footware should be worn and we will be in both sun and shade.  Children/families welcome, but no pets please.

I was a little too ambitious by RSVP-ing to this and volunteering to be at church for 6hrs today. I'll catch you on the next one.

I will be leading a “kid friendly” nature hike departing the Visitor Center at Shelby Farms Park on Easter Sunday at 2pm sharp that will explore the wildflowers in the lawn, life in the hedgerows and on into the forest. This is both a learning experience and fun adventure. We will be walking through grasslands, on nature trails and into the forest so wear long pants and close toed shoes. Bring some bug spray, water and your imagination. Each child will receive a “Smokey Bear ruler” and a measurement handout as we seek out and measure whatever plants and critters we might encounter. Your facilitator, Hikermantn Howard will create a photographic record of the adventure that will be available to all participants via email. Kid oriented, but adults welcome. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT YOU WILL SEE!

Hey guys, I think I am going to skip this one, since this is Easter. I'll be doing stuff with church and my kids.

With the 5k happening during the first meetup and the second one being cancelled due to weather, I really want to make this one.
