What we're about

“Some men... are surprised to discover the paradox of strength -
only the truly vulnerable possess the ability to love powerfully.” Edmond Manning

This 8-meeting group for men will explore the challenges and opportunities that arise when we connect with other men. In a world where competition and production are our primary ways of interacting, and where vulnerability is seen as weakness and therefore dangerous, there are few models for authentic interaction between men. Yet many of us crave that contact. This group will explore how we connect with men experientially. That is, we will move toward that connection and notice the barriers. We will look to overcome those barriers and create the bonds we seek. This group will offer a pathway to discovering our masculine gifts. It will be a place of refuge, challenge and acceptance, where members will engage with new ideas about relating to ourselves, our friends, partners and families, and our work in the world.

The group will be comprised of five to eight members and a leader. Men of any race, sexual orientation, belief system, age or ability are welcome as group members. Diversity is a valuable aspect of this work. All members will commit for the duration of the group. (It is understood that absences are unavoidable at times.) During the group, the leader will offer experiential training on what is needed to develop and maintain an effective on-going, self-directed group. If after the completion of our work, there are enough interested members to do so, this group will be encouraged (with support and consultation from the group leader as needed) to continue meeting on its own to maintain and benefit from the connections created.
