This is a group for authors who are men and who write on topics of interest to men: spies, thriller, adventure, action, drama, science fiction, military, western, police, detective, mystery, historical, alternative history, speculative, and other topics. Some nonfiction and memoir possible, but nothing academic, cookbook, how to, or self-help. No young adult, children, romance, pure fantasy, horror, graphic novel, or porn. With so many writing groups focused on women’s topics and point of view, it seems that male subjects have been squeezed out of most writing groups. This is for the guys that like to read and hope to write somewhat like Clancy, Flynn, Baldacci, Hemingway, LeCarre, Patterson, Silva, Thor, Larsson, or others. We will split our meetings between discussions of what we are writing in general terms and critique sessions. Many groups just focus on the critique without getting into what is the overall goal or structure of a story.. We will consider short stories, novels, and products in between in length. Our goal is to encourage and assist each other in our writing endeavors, improve each other’s work, and to have some fun while doing it. Collegial discussion is the goal. Meetings will generally be held at bookstores or coffee shops to begin. Membership in the group is based on review and writing sample.
