What we're about

Have you ever wondered why your best friend with depression can't just "buck up and power through it"? Do you hear the term "bipolar" and think it means somebody whose mood swings with the wind? Do you know someone who is struggling with addiction and ponder how they can be so selfish as to keep drinking or drugging when their actions are hurting those they love? We all know somebody who suffers from one of these (or other) mental health issues; however, it's easy to be confused about what's really going on for our friends and loved ones with so many sources of information out there - some of which can be very misleading or downright inaccurate. This group is for seekers of knowledge about mental health issues, and for those mental health providers who would like to share information in their areas of expertise.

Each meetup will provide a chance to learn about a specific mental health topic from one or more local professionals, ask questions to deepen your understanding of the topic, and share your own experiences with others who, like you, want to deepen their awareness of mental health matters so that we can take care of ourselves, and support those we love, when facing mental health challenges.

***Disclaimer*** This group is for educational, information sharing and peer support purposes only. It is not intended to mimic or be a substitute for therapeutic group or individual treatment, nor is it intended to be a venue to sell such services to participants.
