  • Join us Wednesday, December 7th to learn about Creating a Data-Driven Organization from WeWork's VP, Head of Data & Analytics Carl Anderson.

This presentation is both non-technical and high-level, meaning it's accessible to anyone interested, but contains details and actions that data scientists and analysts can enact. It's our belief that both non-technical business leaders and those who work with data regularly will get something out of this talk.

Note: if you have a specific interest in how data and business collide and work as one, we've created a separate Meetup group just for you! Join our Data Literacy for Business Meetup so you can stay up-to-date on all upcoming events!

    Talk Abstract:
What does it mean for an organization to be data-driven? How does an organization get there? Many organizations think that they are data-driven but the reality is that few genuinely are and we can all do better. In this talk, Carl will cover what it truly means to be data driven. The answer, it turns out, is not solely about the latest tools and technologies (although they can help), but is about having an appropriate data culture than spans the whole organization – where data is accessible broadly, is embedded into operations and processes, and where it enables effective decision making. In this presentation, Carl dissects what an effective data-driven culture entails, covering facets such as data leadership, data literacy, and A/B testing, illustrating concepts with examples from different industries as well as personal experience.
