This is a group of various ages and backgrounds interested in the many health giving benefits of the ancient Chinese arts of Tai Chi and Chi Gung which consist of flowing movements, breathing relaxation and meditation in motion.  This class will concentrate on the fundamentals of relaxation and stress management through these ancient exercises. Additionally, you may experience such benefits as stronger muscles, better balance, greater flexibility and increased body awareness. You will, with practice, notice that your ability to focus and to concentrate also is increased.  We will also work on body alignment and breathing properly. The idea is to have fun,  get off the couch and enjoy moving in a healthy balanced way. Chi is our life force or energy and we will learn techniques which will open your energy (Chi) channels and enhance your sense of well being as well as help to reduce anxiety.

An article published in 2009 "The Health Benefits of Tai Chi" published in the Harvard Health Publications, stated that the research showed that Tai Chi practice improved muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and aerobic conditioning. The researchers also concluded that the practice was helpful for arthritis, low bone density, breast cancer, heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, Parkinson's disease, sleep problems, and stroke. Even if you don't suffer from any of these health issues you will gain tremendous health benefits and feel more energetic.
