Swami Jyotirmayananda was born on February 3, 1931, in Bihar, India. At the age of 22, he embraced the ancient order of Sanyasa as a disciple of the renowned Master Sri Swami Sivananda of the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh, India.
Swamiji’s great command of spiritual knowledge and dynamic expositions on Yoga and Vedanta philosophy attracted enormous interest and many requests for him to spread the spiritual knowledge of India in the West. In 1962, Swamiji moved first to Puerto Rico, and then in 1969 to Miami, where he established The Yoga Research Foundation. Branches of this center now exist all over the world.
Swamiji is well recognized as one of the foremost proponents of Integral Yoga—a way of life and thought that synthesizes the various aspects of Yoga (Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Jnana Yoga, in conjunction with Hatha Yoga) into a comprehensive plan of personality integration.
Through regular lectures and retreats in his Ashram, and more than 40 books he has published on Vedanta philosophy, including his monthly magazine, the International Yoga Guide, Swamiji continues to share the range and richness of his knowledge of the great scriptures of India. He is like the radiant morning sun awakening sleeping hearts to the dawn of self-awareness.

Meditation is the art of calming the mind, of being still, and of exploring the mystic depths of the soul. It is the basis of all spiritual practices throughout the world.
Through meditation we become completely centered in the eternal present, where we neither react to memories of the past, nor project events in the future. Through meditation we gain an insight into our intrinsic inner silence, our inner space that is beyond worry, agitation or stress. We become established in a state of complete and absolute peace.
All our guided Meditation Classes are conducted by Sri Swami Jyotirmayananda, and are held every Saturday evening from 7:30 to 8:30. For those who are interested in coming to our Pranayama Class (Pranayama is the art of correct breathing), an essential precursor to meditation, may join in at 7:10 just prior to the meditation class.

From Miller Rd., turn south on SW 74th Ave.
After you pass the stop sign (SW 60th St.), turn right into the parking area. (There is a black mailbox with "6020" at the entrance) Find a parking spot. (I usually turn left after entering and park on the gravel).
There is a walkway at the end of the gravel parking area to walk through to the ashram.
Cross the street continuing on SW 74th Ave. to the entrance of the ashram on the left (about 100 ft.) It has a white gate. If the gate seems latched, it's not locked, just reach over the top of the gate and unlatch it and enter the ashram grounds.
Continue walking past the first buildings, onto the gravel pathway, you will see a sidewalk going right which leads you to the entrance to the meditation hall.
