Road bicycling through the north side of Chicago, the near north and near northwest suburbs. We ride both roads and trails, with average speeds between 12 and 18 mph. The rides will usually be "no-drop", so they are great for beginners as well as experienced cyclists. Faster groups can always split off.
DETAILS: We meet at the parking lot just west of the Harms Road/Old Orchard Road intersection. around 10:00 am on Sunday morning and leave promptly at 10:30 am. The ride will be about 15-17 miles along the North Branch Trail and is a no-drop ride. If you cannot keep the pace, someone will stay with you, if desired. If there is a group that wants to set a faster pace, go for it! Just let the organizer know. Each rider must sign the liability waiver. WEATHER: This recreational ride is a fair-weather ride. We’ll may cancel for bad weather, so please check back on this page for updates the morning of the ride if the conditions are questionable. BRING: 1) Your bike! Any bike will do, this ride is Intermediate Pace (12-15mph). 2) All riders MUST wear a helmet. 3) Water bottle. 4) Bike lock. 5) Bring materials to fix a flat. A tube of the correct size, tire levers, and an air pump or CO2 inflator. 6) Money for lunch at the end of the ride. Your organizer keeps a Kosher diet. There are a couple of dairy restaurants nearby. Emma’s Bagel Café (they have bike racks), and EJ’s. 7) Your desire to have fun!
