Let's Kayak the Huron River in Ann Arbor!

Taking pictures is fun...Making great pictures is even more fun. Yes, it requires a little extra effort but the reward is almost always worth the effort. Getting off the beaten path and seeing things from new and interesting vantage points is a great first step in getting new and creative shots. A real interesting perspective to try is from a kayak in the water! Once you get the hang of it a whole new world of creative possibilities await you! Look how much fun Kevin is having in the photo above! This meetup is for kayakers of all skill levels...Even if you've never tried it before this is the time to give it a go! We'll meet at Gallop Park in Ann Arbor at the canoe livery. Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from the canoe livery. Kayaks rentals are available right there at Gallop Park. Day rates are $28. Basic kayaking instruction is available. We will discuss at length photography from a kayak. With the rental they'll drop us off at Barton Pond and we'll spend a few hours kayaking back to Gallop Park. Yes we can shoot photos along the way and we can have a pot luck picnic at the Park afterwards. I suggest you travel light. Keep your camera in a dry bag until you are very comfortable in the kayak. If you're not sure how confident you'll feel in the kayak, you may wish to go without camera for this initial try. Tripods are not necessary. SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN!

    Hi all,
If you don't want to Kayak you can rent a canoe or a two person Kayak. The rental rate is $24.00 for a one person Kayak $28.00 for a two person canoe or Kayak..I personally like canoes better..that's just me..
Remember this is a lazy slow trip down the Huron river so either will be fine.
Also remember we are parking at Gallop Park and they are driving us to the livery it is a 2.5 hours trip ending at the park.
I was thinking we could have a pot luck after and talk about the summers meet ups and discuss future meet up ideas.
    thanx
    Tom

A potluck sounds like a great idea. Everyone bring their own sandwiches or whatever and a dish to share? I'm in.
