What we're about

If you want to come meet up with us to practice yoga and meditation, and learn how to do it yourself over time, that is the purpose of this group. I pride myself and our community for being consciously inclusive -- we strive to all get to know one another by name -- and for facilitating ways in which members can connect more deeply through meditation, yoga, and social experiences.

We host our regular yoga and meditation classes at a fully equipped studio in Royal Oak, and (seasonally) outdoors in Royal Oak parks.

Join this group if you are looking to deepen (or begin) your yoga or meditation/mindfulness practice, or are looking to make new friends and connect with like-minded souls. Side effects may also include increases in self-esteem, living more consciously, accepting personal responsibility, cultivating more loving relationships, and more!

Please come out and meet up with us soon after joining at one of our weekly yoga & meditation classes.

Foundational Alignment Yoga

Center For Iyengar Yoga

A foundational, step-by-step approach to practicing alignment yoga. This is a 90-minute practice. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and encouraging. We make an effort to get to know one another by name.

Explore and deepen your relationship with the most elemental postures in yoga. You will experience a safe and effective opening of energetic pathways in the body. We will end the practice by completing the cycle and finding closure so you feel relaxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated afterward.

Please arrive 5 minutes early and be prepared to begin the lesson on time. You may bring your own mat or we have some at the studio available to use (at no cost).

Monday Evening Meditations to Relax

Center For Iyengar Yoga

We learn about the essential concepts of meditation and build working models in a group, then dig in and explore the practice on our own. This is a 15-minute lesson in the mechanics of meditation, followed by a 60-minute guided session.

This series addresses the science of meditation, why it works, and the changes it can produce in your life when you commit. Interested in learning more about different mindfulness and/or meditation practices and techniques? Would you like to find out how to alleviate stress in your life or reduce your anxiety? Just want to meet like-minded people and make new friends? This group is for you -- all are welcome!

After mapping out our understanding of meditation, we will jump together into "the river of change" and apply what we've learned by sitting together in a guided meditation session.

We are aiming in each session to relax the heart and awaken the brain, thereby creating a sense of balance and harmony between our emotional center and intellectual center. We close with an integrated resting period to assimilate the effects of our meditation and carry them with us into the evening.
