Patapsco Valley State Park Hike: Hollofield Area Trails! A Moderate 6-7 Miles with Post Hike Meal
This hike is the 5th of 10 connected hikes that follow the Patapsco River from Gun Road in the Glen Artney area of the park to Liberty Dam in Carroll County. With a distance of about 10 miles (as the crow flies -- however, as the crow walks, it's significantly longer), our route starts off near Daniels historic area and then passes downstream through remote sections of the park to the Hollofield section on US-40 (park headquarters). We'll go as far as an overlook of the now-removed Union Dam before returning upstream.
All stream crossings are normally very easy, and there is a welcome diversity in the area including flat and hilly sections with one 200' climb over a quarter mile.
Nearby City: Daniels, MD

Please remember we are a volunteer supported organization that values fellowship and camaraderie while practicing good hike etiquette and Leave No Trace principles. Our hikes are led by generous, dedicated, and qualified MAHG members who volunteer as leaders for Mid-Atlantic Hiking Groups volunteer leadership team. Hikes also have a volunteer “sweeper” to help ensure that no hiker is left behind. MAHG volunteers and members are very supportive, encouraging, with a focus on safety while enjoying the excellent camaraderie and benefiting from the many health benefits of hiking and unplugging from the stress of day-to-day life. Sharing what we know and learning from each other is an important part of MAHGs core values, as is our dedication to the conservation of our natural resources and our commitment to the organization's mission.
