I wanted to personally thank each and every one of you for making us the group what we have become. We are now close to 6000 members strong but have managed to retain that small group feeling. In just over 4 years we have held over 1600 hikes and at the rate we now hike we will have about 800 hikes per year in 2012!!!!

Thank you so much for creating and participating this fantastic group and a special thanks to our leadership team and volunteer sweeper who rock this world. The Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, or MAWG as it has become become often referenced, belongs to ALL of us and truly is a team effort. Not only have you assisted in building a stronger sense of community, but the camaraderie within the group is nothing short of palpable. You have touched the lives of many others along the way, and it is you, our members and team who have given me the strength and encouragement, as your organizer, to put in the time and effort involved in organizing and managing our group.

For those who have not seen the article, here it is in online form. It came out on Thursday online and Friday in hard copy form.

I look forward to seeing all of you out on the trail soon to enjoy the fall colors!

Again, thank you, as we could not do it without you, our most valuable members and team leaders. I am very proud of all of you!
