Come join me for some fun and instruction on flat water kayaking. We will be following American Canoe Association (ACA) curriculum and here is just a sampling of what we'll cover: 1. The Paddling Environment – The weather, wind, water conditions and waves 2. Personal Preparation – judgement, water comfort, swimming ability 3. Getting Started –Carrying, loading, launching a kayak, posture and more 4. Equipment – Boats, paddles, Life Jackets (PFDs), clothing, personal equipment 5. Safety – Possible hazards, principles of rescue, river signals, ropes 6. Strokes – forward, sweep, draw 7. Challenge by choice – Flip, self-rescue, dumping a kayak, re-entry in the water 8. FUN!!!!! :-) Each student over the age of 15 that books a three hour course will get a FREE student packet full of cool stuff like a Beginners Guide to Safe Paddling, stickers, a thank you piece of safety equipment AND an ACA skills course participation card. THIS IS A CLASS YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS :-) What you need for the class: Dress to get wet (poly pro or synthetic materials are best) and some kind of water shoes (flip flops get lost). Plenty of water, towel, sunscreen and a chair. Kayak, paddle and life jacket (PFD) will be provided if you don't have gear. This course is $68.00 per person and minors over the age of 12 are welcome but please let me know so I can be sure to have the right life jacket.
