Writing4Wellbeing

Online event

£15.00

About this Event This is a taster session promoting a 5 week online course designed to encourage you to access your own inner strength and creative abilities even during those times when you don’t feel like you have any. You don’t need to think of yourself as particularly creative: as long as you can hold a pen/cil and keep an open mind, any adult (18+) is welcome. The course will be a mixture of conversation, creativity, mindfulness, meditation and a number of guided writing tasks including regular work on gratitude & affirmations. The aim of the course is to boost mood & confidence, improve self-esteem and foster feelings of well-being and happiness. You can also join the Facebook page Writing4Wellbeing to connect with other like-minded souls in the W4W online community. A W4W website is coming soon! Taster session is just £15 for meetup :) https://www.eventbrite.com/e/writing4wellbeing-tickets-124626409947 It’s normal to experience an off day, have bad moods and feel an occasional deep seated need to spend several hours under your duvet, but if negative thoughts and feelings persist for several weeks – it might be a sign of something more. Depression is a low mood that lasts for a long time and has an affect on your everyday life. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that people may experience, and though it can happen at any time of year, it is generally most associated with the ‘winter blues’. (www.nhs.co.uk) Managing mental health is a year-round process in the same way that managing your weight or finances might be. There may be months when all is going well and you are happy to see a surplus showing in the bank (or a loss on the scales!) as well as those weeks or months when you find your cash flow is a bit tighter – like your post-Christmas dinner clothes! Everyone accepts the reality that these things fluctuate, and so we also need to normalise the fact that sometimes ‘It’s OK not be OK’. Over recent years, awareness of depression and anxiety has improved significantly, due to high-profile people speaking about their own experiences and initiatives like Heads Together, Action for Happiness and Ruby Wax’s Frazzled Cafe. Art, dance and music have been used alongside the more traditional talking therapies to treat anxiety, stress, depression and other mood disorders. Your mood can also be lifted by sunshine, exercise and nature. Many people cook, draw, paint, craft, garden or have other creative hobbies that imbue them with a sense of “wellbeing” which is a very much a buzzword for these times. There are any number of well-being self-help books & bloggers/vloggers offering advice about how to boost your mood and deal with difficult feelings, but one of the issues for people who are dealing with depression and anxiety is the lack of motivation to get things done by yourself. This is the reason I designed a taught course using my 20 years of experience as a Teacher & Trainer creating and delivering training sessions to adults. Come along and find out more on Nov 3rd at the taster. Emotional resilience workshop (the armour for life) Online Webinar

Resilience comes from the Latin resilio, which means to jump (or bounce) back. Resilience is the ability to withstand or recover from difficult situations. It includes our capacity to make the best of things, cope with stress and rise to the occasion. This workshop offers practical training in skills, strategies and insights that help our resilience grow. This workshop we will look at four key skills that raise our resilience: • visioning skills that strengthen our sense of purpose by helping us see, and then head for, the outcomes that attract us . • creative problem-solving skills that help us find a path through the obstacles in the way. • positive relationship skills that enhance our ability to find allies and draw in the support we need. • emotional intelligence skills that raise our capacity to work with our emotions, so that we can benefit from the guiding signals and energy they offer Cost of workshop £10 Payment Methods..
