**If your trial period ended, you were automatically removed from the meetup group. Please feel free to join again!!**
Midtown Readers is a book club for women of all ages (sorry, guys!) who seek friendships and share a love of reading a wide range of books. Jesa and Rachel have been the organizers since August of 2013 with the intention of Midtown Readers being a space for friendships, community, and intelligent discussion. Over the past year or so, Midtown Readers has grown into a social group that meets three times a month to discuss books, watch documentaries, and knit/crochet. If you are looking for other spirited women to have thoughtful discussions with, look no further! This is a very friendly group, and new members are always welcome (we do sometimes stray outside the book--just a warning!).
Midtown Readers meets monthly, and we read fiction and nonfiction books selected by our members. Usually we post a poll to select 3 or 4 books, and plan a few months ahead of time. Feel free to suggest one or more books in the comments on Meetup page (ideally under 450 pages, available in paperback and/or electronically) and we'll post your suggestion in our next poll. Also, if you aren't able to finish the book, and don't mind spoilers, come anyway!
As of March 2016, we meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at a coffee shop, winery, or private residence in (or fairly close to) Midtown. If anyone has a suggestion for a location (preferably not too loud with ample seating), or would even like to host, feel free to post in the comments of that event.
Rachel hosts a knitting/craft night on the 3rd Thursday at Tupelo. All are welcome regardless of knitting/crocheting experience. We also have a movie night at a member's house on the 4th Thursday, where we watch a documentary (but not strictly), drink wine and eat snacks while watching and discussing the movie. This is generally on the third Thursday of the month, unless our host needs to make a change.
As of April 2016, we're asking members to pay $10 per billing cycle (6-months). New members have the option of trying Midtown Readers for two months and paying $10 if they like the group and want to join after that "trial" period. We pay $120 in Meetup fees yearly, and if we find that $10 covers us for a full year or more, will not ask members to pay.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
