We will snowshoe into Commonwealth Basin, a popular destination. I've been there many times in summer, but the last time on snowshoes was 1980 to climb Kendall Peak. We will park at the Snoqualmie Summit ski area, walk under the freeway, strap on the snowshoes and head up into the basin. We will try to follow the old trail into the basin, poke around a bit, and then return. If the sun is shinning we may go elsewhere to maximize the rays coming down on us.
Approximately 5mi with 1,000' elevation gain.
This trip is good for beginners, but please be in decent shape. Snowshoes with traction devices are highly recommended. Bring poles and extra clothing.
I WILL CANCEL THIS IF THE WEATHER AND/OR DRIVING CONDTIONS ARE BAD. SNOWSHOEING IN THE RAIN IS NO FUN!!! ALWAYS CHECK THIS POSTING BEFORE LEAVING HOME.
