Midwesterners in Santa Cruz was started when two Midwestern women met and realized that we missed knowing people with shared roots. We were excited to get together and wanted to open it up to others who might feel as we do.
Who should join?
We are a specific sort of transplant -- Midwesterners in California. (uff da!) If you're from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota come join us! Any ages welcome.
Why should members join?
Our purpose is to make friends, connect, and have fun with other Midwesterners! We're "not from here" -- and sometimes you just need to connect with someone who understands where you're coming from.
What can members expect out of the group?
There are so many wonderful things to do in Santa Cruz, and we do them together! We'll gather locally to have potluck dinners, attend cultural events, and enjoy neighborhood gatherings. If you have an idea for an event you'd like to see posted, tell us and we'll post it for you!
Come celebrate our Midwesterners with August birthdays! Please bring something to share for the potluck -- we'll have the grill going. Cake and ice cream will be provided!
If it's YOUR birthday in August, post it in the chat so we know how many we are celebrating :) And if it's NOT your birthday in August (don't worry, we will get to your birthday month also) tune up your voice for a rousing rendition of the Happy Birthday song!
[You may bring non-Midwesterners to the community birthday party! Please note your guests in your RSVP.]

Singer-songwriters Craig and Keith Rayburn play songs that are a mix of folk, rock and Americana. Their voices harmonize as only brothers can. The Rayburn Brothers Band has created a brand of California roots rock that has depth and energy. Their songs convey strong emotions that only seasoned songwriters can express. They have received reviews that have compared them to bands such as The Eagles, Neil Young, Los Lobos and Jackson Browne.
