Walk Description: In partnership with the High Line Canal Conservancy, we will walk the entire High Line Canal, one segment at a time, covering most of the 71-mile trail. Check out our overview page here for more information on all of our walking events.
Segment 10 of 14, Miles 20-15| A Long Amble through Littleton, Part 2: On this segment, we’ll enjoy Horseshoe Park and really start approaching the foothills. We'll get our first glimpses of Waterton Canyon and start to understand how the current water system in Denver works as we pass McLellen Reservoir. We'll officially leave the city when we walk under c470 and take a break at Fly N By Ranch.

Meeting Location, Parking, and Planning: Park at Fly n By Ranch, 2910 W. Plaza Drive, Highlands Ranch, CO. This parking area is the end of the walk for this segment. Please be parked and ready to walk at 8:50 am. We will leave no later than 9:05 to the starting destination. We will walk the segment together. At the end of the walk, we will carpool back to the beginning of the segment to return people to their cars. If you are not comfortable carpooling, please make other arrangements to meet us at the start of the walk and for you to depart the walk. Alternatively, you can take a Lyft. If you use this link and you’re a new Lyft user, you get a credit toward your first ride. If you have questions about how parking/carpooling/transit will work, please contact Chris.
Final Details: You will receive a final email from Chris by 5 pm the day before the walk with concluding instructions about parking, weather, or other details. Please refer to this email before heading out to the Meetup. If you do not receive this email by 5 pm, contact Chris immediately at[masked] 7280.
-All walkers who complete at least one segment of the Connecting the Canal Event will receive a water bottle from High Line Conservancy to be distributed at a later date. For the walkers who complete all 14 segments of the Connecting the Canal event series according to the official schedule will receive a branded tag from the High Line Canal Conservancy signifying the completion of the entire Canal trail.
-There are no restrooms on this particular segment, nor are there places to purchase refreshments.
-You should have at least 2 liters of water with you.
-We will take breaks along the way as we find shade or welcoming spots.
-Although the trip leader will bring snacks, please be sure you are packing what you need to be comfortable, quenched, and fed.
-You may want to bring lunch.
-Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and you may also want to include appropriate outerwear, hats, and gloves to accommodate for the weather.
-Dogs are welcome on 6-foot leashes. No retractable leashes. Please be sure to bring baggies and water for your dog and consider the carpooling scenarios if you bring your dog with you. We will take breaks along the way as we find shade or welcoming spots and enjoy some snacks.
-Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightening. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
Welcome Waiver: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience in the past year.
