You may be asking yourself why I am posting a meditation on our drum circle and kirtan Meetup. Well, the reason is that this event will including live music on the handpan (or "hang drum" as it is also called) played by me. I thought this would be a great introduction for those who have never heard or experienced the sounds of the handpan or who would like to hear more. The handpan is a beautiful steel instrument with several notes, which is played with the hands, and which sounds similar to a harp - the sounds of the handpan are very soothing and relaxing, and they go very well with meditation. I have included a picture of it above.
Below is some more information about the event from Julie Kamikawa, the owner of Kolibri Yoga and Kirtan, and the person who will be leading the guided meditation:
-Special relaxation/guided meditation, also known as Yoga Nidra-- donations only (pay what you can)- reserve your space for this special event today!! This will include some live music by Kristie on the hand pan (hang drum)!
RSVPs at the scheduler/ticket URL needed as space is limited and to ensure this event will take place. Can be seated or standing, with options to lay on floor. No experience necessary; all over 14 yrs are welcome with preregistration/RSVP.
-Suggested donation $5-$10 per person.
-FREE & easy parking in our lot; we are located right off Hwy 41/45 Burleigh exit amongst lots of shopping and restaurant opportunities, including the new Whole Foods, as well as Pizza Man.
-Dress casually; this is not a formal physical yoga practice. Mats are available, but it is recommended to bring your own mat, blanket, and pillow to be completely comfortable.
